Primary education and Special Education Needs and Disabilities are important to Aisha, but improvement to secondary provision is a priority.
Aisha met with the Rt. Hon. Gillian Keegan MP, Secretary of State for Education, to discuss the proposed changes to education on Sheppey. Those changes, which take place in September this year, will see two new schools replace the current single split-site Oasis Academy.
Both schools will offer a good basic academic curriculum, however, the Leigh Academy Minster will also offer children a disciplined, academically robust education, including a grammar stream.
In addition, Snowfields will have on the site a satellite facility for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
The East Kent College Sheppey Secondary School, will have a good academic curriculum, but will also specialise in vocational subjects.
If elected, Aisha will work with the two new academy trusts to ensure they provide a good standard of education and relieve pressure on the already over-subscribed schools in Sittingbourne.
